I just finished reading The Witch Merrick by Anne Rice. For the uninitiated Anne Rice a writer is perhaps the most important in the field of stories about vampires.
Many of his books have given rise to major motion pictures such as the Queen of the Damned and especially interview with the vampire.
Especially the latter was very successful considering the exceptional cast composed Tom Cruise (Lestat de Lioncourt),
Brad Pitt (Louis de Pointe du Lac), Kirsten Dunst (Claudia),
Antonio Banderas (Armand), Christian Slater (Daniel Malloy)
T handi Newton (Yvette).
This book can be defined a continuation of the novel Interview with the Vampire because it draws particular one of the characters in the narrative of that racconto.Ma are also taken some parts of other books that relate to the chronicles of the vampires.
vampires of Anne Rice are different from everyone else, are very 'deep' , sad, lonely and solidarity. A
Rice vampire is a being who feels alone and needs of their companions to 'survive'. In the book the witch Merrick
David Talbot known member of the Talamasca (an organization that studies the supernatural) is now a vampire who lives between two worlds: the memories of his mortal life characterized by the protection to Merrick a girl with great potential in the field of magic and protection for the vampire Lestat and his two companions Loius.
Louis, fought to have hurt a loved one, want to invoke the ghost of the latter in order to obtain a sort of perdono.David will target Merrick asking for his help and here comes an important meeting between the two sfocierà that the memories of life soffertissima Merrick and his family and their dark powers and secret rites.
I had never read a book of Rice and I have to say my favorite author Laurell Hamilton's Anita Blake saga.
Laurell writes in a more exciting and modern but does not neglect the character of the various personaggi.Lei takes more action and terror, while Anna Rice takes more mystery and more about the lives of the characters feelings rather than on actions.
Usually when I read a book I like him even more than I think volta.Non reread the witch Merrick, maybe I'll do it later when I forgot I will be a bit 'of the history and details (I have a bad memory) I instead reread a book about Anita Blake maybe Black Moon.
Perhaps my hesitation comes from the fact that I have not read the other previous books on the vampire chronicles the saga of Anita Blake and I'm not a 'hit'.
reading other reviews I understood that Rice, when calls made to other books or characters makes the assumption that everyone understands what is referred to and this makes reading difficult and sometimes boring.
Laurell Hamilton, however, in every novel explains who he is and what each character as if it was the first book he writes and this makes reading easy and interesting for non 'loyalists'.
Recall also the facts previously described by understanding the history and sometimes paranoid behavior of some characters like the main character Anita Blake.
The saga chronicles the vampire is as follows:
1 - Interview with the Vampire 2
- Chosen by darkness
3 - Queen of the Damned
4 - 5
Memnock the devil - The Body Thief
6 - The Vampire Armand
7 - 8
Pandora - the witch Merrick
